Malawi at 2014 World youth Chess Championship
Tuesday, 30 September 2014 07:14

The 2014 World Youth Chess Championship ended in Durban South Africa with alot of positives. Malawi partipated at the Youth tournament that had about 95 couinries participating. While Malawi was represted by Khwima Gondwe (U10) and Tupokiwe Msukwa (U16) in the Youth Championship Joseph Mwale and Richard Mbedza were testing the Grandmasters in the Durban GM Open. Both Khwima and Tupokiwe won some games (4 for Khwima and 3.5pts for Tupokiwe) and I contend that Malawi should move towards developing the youth.
On the admin side, Kezzie Msukwa attended  and passed in the Arbiters Course from 20th - 25th September 2014 to become the third Arbiter for Malawi after Gilton Mkumbwa who became Arbiter upon attending and passing an exam in 2007 in Namibia seconded by Paul Nyirenda who attended and passed his Arbiters Course in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia in 2010.
Malawi is on the move!
